About Ramona Trails Association
Incorporated in 1989, Ramona Trails Association (RTA) is an all volunteer, nonprofit public benefit organization that is proud to represent all nonmotorized trail users. We are funded by membership dues, donations and fund raising efforts of various events. As a 501c3 donations are tax deductible.
Equestrians, bicyclists, and hikers gather together to have fun and work toward the common goal of trail creation, designation, maintenance, and use. RTA has been successful in planning and creating over 50 miles of trails in the greater Ramona community.
Our Mission
Our mission has been to retain access to and maintain existing nonmotorized, multiuse trails in this rural area, as well as to actively encourage new trail development on both public and private lands. RTA's members work closely with federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as numerous other volunteer organizations. Ramona Trails Association enthusiastically dedicates itself to this cause and welcomes new members and benefactors.
In the Community
Ramona Community Park is the headquarters of the RTA staging area and picnic grounds. RTA maintains the five miles of trails in the park and created the Park to Forest Pathway that leads from the park to the Cleveland National Forest to promote more trail opportunities.Our Community Trails and Pathways Master Plan is our guide to get our trails and pathways on the ground. Created in 1989 and accepted and adopted by the County of San Diego in 2005, this plan is a comprehensive guide to create a cohesive and connected community using nonmotorized means of travel and to provide recreational opportunities.
The Community Trails Master Plan will be utilized to develop a system of interconnected regional and community trails and pathways. These trails and pathways are intended to address an established public need for recreation and transportation, but will also provide health and quality of life benefits associated with hiking, biking, and horseback riding throughout the County's biologically diverse environments.
By participating in community events, RTA is able to help support the community of Ramona. Fun events such as the Ramona Junior Country Fair and the Ramona Rodeo Parade provide a deeper connection to the community for our members. Our environment is a very important aspect of the RTA mission, as well. Each year, Ramona Trails Association participates in the I Love A Clean San Diego "Creek to Bay" cleanup of our watershed areas. During this participation, RTA removes trash and debris from our watershed areas before it reaches our oceans. RTA performs cleanup operations in many of our community and county parks by trimming trees, picking up litter, removing or replacing dangerous fencing, among other activities that beautify and are beneficial to our community.
